12 Most Terrifying Animals

Out Team has put together what we believe to be some of the top twelve most terrifying animals. Of course there are plenty of other animals that are not on this list that could give you a scare, theses are just a few of the animlas we feel should be on the top of your “STAY AWAY FROM” list.

#1 Hippopotamus

While the hippo feeds mostly on plants, its territorial aggression, sneakiness, and sheer power make this beast of a mammal one of the most terrifying creatures in Africa. On average, they kill close to 3,000 people a year. They are very capable of moving quickly and quietly through water, which makes them a danger to anyone that wanders into their territory.

#2 Killer Bees

Although one of these insects is nothing to fear, a swarm of Africanized bees can easily kill an adult human. Africanized bees react to disturbances in the environment faster than other species of bees and victims are known to be stung 10x more in a killer bee attack. They can be found throughout Africa, South America, and North America.

#3 Coral Snake

Averaging less than 3 feet long, the Coral snake is one of the most dangerous reptiles on the planet, making it extremely terrifying. The Coral snake fulfills the old saying, “red and yellow, kill a fellow.” A coral snake is red and black with yellow rings all down it’s body. If not treated in less than 12 hours, the venom from this snake will lead to respiratory or cardiac failure otherwise known as death. From the sounds of that, you should pray you never see one.

#4 Crocodile

This hideous looking reptile can tear you apart. The American crocodile can get up to 15 feet long and weigh up to 2,000 pounds. The average crocodile lives in the wild up to 70 years. Crocodiles are carnivores that have been known to attack humans. At 15 feet long, almost 2,000 pounds and long sharp teeth, this reptile is one I never want to cross paths with.

#5 Great White Shark

This fish is on average more than 2,000 pounds and more than 10 feet long. The great white shark is deadly and scary. These sharks are the largest predatory fish on the planet. The amount of teeth and how sharp the teeth are is what easily makes this fish beyond terrifying, it’s a nightmare.

#6 Anglerfish

This fish grows up to 40 inches and can weigh up to 110 pounds. It quite possibly takes the award for ugliest fish on Earth. This creepy looking sea-dweller lives in Earth’s most desolate, inhabitable area: the lightless bottom of the sea. The female of this species sports a luminous rod that baits species towards them. From there, their mouths can gulp up fish up to twice their size. We know very little about the sea floor as it is very hard to explore. Judging from this creature, maybe we should just leave the ocean alone.

#7 Frilled Shark

This freaky looking shark is so rarely seen by humans that nearly every time one is found it makes headlines. They can grow up to 7 feet, have 300 teeth, and have been recorded at a depth of 5200 feet. They tend to inhabit areas where deep water moves upwards (otherwise known as upwellings). A frilled shark has never been observed hunting, but scientists predict that they strike much like a snake. Essentially, this creature is a shark and a snake all-in-one. Terrifying.

#8 Lesula

This species of monkey was discovered quite recently in 2012. It was well-known to the Democratic Republic of Congo, but until now the outside world had no idea the species roamed the remote forests there. The most terrifying attribute of this monkey is that they have large, human like eyes. In fact, their entire face just looks eerily human-like, but not quite. It’s creepy.

#9 Venezuelan Poodle Moth

Harmless but evil looking the poodle moth is a native Venezuela's Canaima National Park. The moth looks like a demon and will be sure to give you a scare, but is harmless. Taking the internet over, this moth has been seen regularly over the web for almost 10 years now.

#11 Long-Wattled Umbrellabird

The Long-wattled Umbrellabird is a rare to uncommon resident of humid foothill and lowland forests of the Pacific slope of the Andes from Colombia to southwestern Ecuador. The chest wattle of the male indeed is long, but the bird can control the length of the wattle, shortening the wattle at will.

#12 Blobfish

The Psychrolutes marcidus or blobfish as it's known by many is not your typical fish. This fish only inhabits the deep waters off the shore of Oceania at depths between 2,000 and 3,900 ft. While the blobfish isn't the most dangerous creature in the deep sea, it does boast a terrifying resemblance to the face of gelatinous human or alien-like creature.
