Cereal Product Review

For the Product Review assignment, I did a review on different brands of cereal. This was an easy choice for me because cereal is one of my favorite things to eat for breakfast. There were 6 different cereals that I selected for my review; Froot Loops, Frosted Flakes, Cocoa Krispies, Pops, Apple Jacks, and Almond Crunchy Honey Oats. For six days, I sat down and ate one of the different brands of cereal. After each bowl, I wrote down my thoughts.

The reviews were based on three aspects of a methodology that I came up with. The first was the overall taste of the cereal. I rated this on a scale from one to five. Second, was the price of the cereal. This was strictly based off of the products offered in the Evansville Wal-Mart. The last area of judgement involved the nutrition of the cereal. I mainly based the nutrition rating on the sugar content per serving. I also rated this on a scale from 1 to 5. Each bowl of cereal was put through a review of this methodology, and it helped me determine my overall winner for best bowl of cereal.

I started off with Froot Loops. For the taste, I gave Froot Loops a rating of five out of five. They were quite tasty. For the cost aspect, I found a 26-ounce (giant sized) box for $3.64. For Nutrition, I gave it a rating of three out of five, because it contains 9 grams of sugar per serving.

On the second day, I ate a bowl of Frosted Flakes. I gave these sugary flakes a taste rating of four out of five. I would probably give the initial rating of a five out of five, however, I know that in my experience eating Frosted Flakes, I tend to get sick of them after a few days. I found a 33-ounce box, for $4.44, which was the largest box I found. They also received a nutrition rating of two out of five, because they contain 12 grams of sugar.

On the third day, I ate a bowl of Cocoa Krispies. The taste was a five out of five. It was like eating a bowl of cereal while drinking a glass of chocolate milk at the same time. I found a 20.5 ounce-sized box for $3.38. And for the nutrition, I gave Cocoa Krispies a two out of five, for containing 15 grams of sugar.

Next up were Corn Pops. Very tasty with a rating of five out of five. I found a 19.1-ounce box for $3.64. Pops received a nutrition rating of three out of five for containing 8 grams of sugar.

One the sixth day I got the pleasure of indulging in a bowl of Apple Jacks. I gave this taste rating a five out of five, and would like to note that I would probably put these above Froot Loops. They sell Giant sized, 26-ounce boxes for $3.64 at Wal-Mart. And they also surprisingly do not have a terrible nutrition rating, sitting at three out of five for containing 9g of sugar.

Last, but certainly not least, Almond Crunchy Honey Oats. This was a delicious cereal. It had the honey taste to it, but it was also combined with a crunchiness from the almonds that was not overdone in any way. For the cost, there was a 28-ounce box for $2.48, which is as big as a Giant-sized box. Nutritionally, I gave Almond Crunchy Honey Oats a rating of four out of five. It contains 8 grams of sugar, but it also has more health benefits involved than some of the other cereals such as higher percentages of Vitamin A, C, D, and iron.
