Popcorn Review

The video above includes my review of three different brands of popcorn. Orville Redenbacher’s, Act ll, and Pop Secret. I broke down each brand box and ranked them from their nutritional content, flavor, price, and overall look. Orville Redenbacher’s Butter Popcorn filled my number three spot because it had no artificial flavors, preservatives, or dyes. It was also 100% whole grain, made with non-GMO popcorn, its gluten free, and it has 0g of trans fat. It had a great balance of butter and salt. I had only one complaint with the Orville Redenbacher brand was that a lot of the kernels got burnt easily and when the bag came out of the microwave, almost all the bottom was filled with kernels that had not popped. When the kernels did pop, however, they were light and fluffy. Out of the three brands I ranked, this one was the priciest. For a box of three bags is $2.28 at my local Walmart. It has a high sodium content at 320mg and 170 calories per serving. In my number two spot, fell the brand Act ll. I specifically reviewed their Buttery Kettle Corn. It was the cheapest of the three at $1.43. This popcorn did a significantly better job at popping the kernels evenly and fully. I did not end up with as many burnt kernels. I also did not end up with as many kernels in the bottom of the bag that were not popped. I could only complain about the texture. The popped kernels were weighed down and coated with the butter and sweetness. It was a little too heavy for my taste buds. Overall, however, the taste was wonderful. If you like popcorn that was covered in butter, this brand was perfect. Even with the strong buttery aroma and taste, it had surprisingly less sodium. It also had fewer calories at 170 per serving. For the price and the taste, it perfectly fits my number two spot in sequence. Pop Secret took my number 1 spot. It tasted the best. The butter covered every popped kernel. And it evenly cooked. It did not end up with a lot of burnt kernels and it did not have a lot of kernels, in the bottom of the bag, that were not popped. It had the least number of calories out of all the three brands I reviewed. It has 130 calories per serving. The sodium was higher than that of Act ll but significantly lower than Orville Redenbacher’s. It had 270 mg of sodium. It also earned my #1 spot by being 100% whole grain, made with non-GMO corn, no TBHQ, no high fructose corn syrup, and no added sugar. For the best buy for your dollar would be this popcorn. It is very budget friendly as well. It is priced in the middle of Orville Redenbacher’s and Act ll at $2.18.

Overall, all the popcorn was fantastic. Deciding between the three was challenging. Orville Redenbacher’s, Pop Secret, and Act ll are all perfect for that delicious, buttery goodness. Whether you want extra butter, lightly salted, or a combination, these popcorn brands will satisfy your craving.
