The Healthiest Greek Yogurts

I’m reviewing different brands of yogurt and I’m going to describe the top 3 healthiest brands. Obviously Greek yogurt is better for you than regular yogurt because it has less fat and have about twice as much protein as regular yogurt. Some of the Greek yogurt brands are pretty well known whereas some are less common.

I did some research on the healthiest Greek yogurts to buy and looked up the calories and amount of fat each yogurt has in them. Almost every website I looked at said that Wallaby Organic Greek Plain Low-Fat Greek yogurt is the best. It normally comes in a container of about 6 ounces. It has 130 calories with only 3 grams of fat and 100 milligrams of sodium. It has 17 grams of protein and only 7 grams of carbs. It’s sold in both low fat which is about 2% and also has non-fat options.

The second best Greek yogurt that I found was Maple Hill Creamery Greek Yogurt. It’s sold in 5.3 ounce containers with 130 calories and 6 grams of fat. It also has 55 milligrams of sodium with 12 grams of protein and 6 grams of carbs. It’s made with two ingredients: grass-fed milk and live cultures. Grass-fed yogurt contains more omega-3s and conjugated acids. Both of which help prevent heart disease, inflammation, diabetes, and various cancers.

The third best Greek yogurt I found was Fage Total 2% Greek Yogurt. It’s sold in containers of about 7 ounces, contains 150 calories and 4 grams of fat. It also has 65 milligrams of sodium, 8 grams of carbs, and 20 grams of protein. So this yogurt actually has the most protein but also the most calories and carbs. It has also been proven to be one of the best tasting Greek yogurts available.

I tried all of these yogurts just to see what they tasted like and there’s definitely a reason as to why they’re so healthy. While they don’t necessarily taste bad, they don’t taste very good either. Especially since the healthiest flavors of all the brands is the basic vanilla, there wasn’t a lot of flavor amongst the three. Maple Hill in my opinion had the smoothest texture and tasted the best to me but they were all pretty bland. However, if you were to eat the fruit flavored yogurt, that would be far less healthy than the original vanilla flavor.

There are also obviously other yogurts besides just Greek yogurt but these were the healthiest ones I found when I was researching. Yogurt provides many nutrients and vitamins that are essential to our health and I felt like it should be known which ones are the healthiest for you and which ones look like they would be good for you, but really aren’t as healthy as you would expect. For example, I always used to think Dannon Oikos was the healthiest because that’s just what I have always eaten and I read the label “Greek yogurt” and automatically think it’s extremely healthy, when in fact, it is not as healthy as I expected. While the plain vanilla Oikos is fairly healthy, I always bought the fruit flavored like blackberry and pomegranate. According to my research, the blackberry flavor actually has more sugar than actual blackberries and the pomegranate uses additives like potassium sorbate and calcium lactate which are not so healthy for you. Potassium sorbate has been known to cause skin allergies like eczema and calcium lactate has been shown to lead to digestive issues.
