The Sunshine State is known for three things: orange juice, Walt Disney World, and gorgeous beaches. With over 1,300 miles of beautiful coastline, there are plenty of places to relax, grab a drink, and breath in the salty air. Some of our favorite beaches are listed below.

#1 Destin

Located in the Florida panhandle, Destin is one of Florida's most affordable beaches for families. It is known for its white sandy beaches along the Gulf of Mexico, golf courses, and Big Kahuna's Water Park. The Destin Harbor Boardwalk is one of the top attractions to visit in the area. Three-star hotels average $127 per night, and plane tickets average $160 per flight.

#2 Clearwater Beach

One of the cleanest beaches in Florida, Clearwater is known for its sandy gulf coast shoreline. Clearwater is located about 25 miles west of Tampa which makes it a short drive for a Tampa Rays game. If that's not enough baseball, come during March and catch a Phillies spring training game. One of the biggest attractions in the area is the Clearwater Marine aquarium, voted one of the best aquariums in the Untied States. Flights average $127, and three-star hotels average $150.

#3 Sanibel Island

Sanibel Island is beloved for its beautiful white-sand beaches, an abundance of seashells, and a variety of wildlife that calls this Gulf coast island home. Visitors and residents can choose whether to enjoy the beach, bike along the protected paths, observe wildlife in refuges, attend cultural events, or enjoy fresh seafood at one of of the many island restaurants. Key West is part of the Florida Key archipelago. It is the southernmost point in the continental United States, lying roughly 90 miles north of Cuba. Key West is famous for its pastel-hued, conch-style houses, and is a cruise-ship stop also accessible from the mainland via the Overseas Highway. Flights average $141 and three-star hotels average $228.

A beautiful beachfront town, Panama City Beach is located close to Destin. It's white sandy beaches and clear Gulf of Mexico waters make it a great vacation spot. Panama City offers two nature parks close to the city limit which allows vacationers to escape the city to enjoy nature. Some major attractions include high class resorts, dolphin cruises, and Pier Park, a world class shopping mall. The average price for a three-star hotel is $102.

#6 Naples

Located in southern Florida on the Gulf of Mexico, Naples offers some of the best views in Florida. Tourist come here in hopes of spotting dolphins, or catching trophy fish in the Gulf. Naples is a historic town, offering a Victorian-era feel in the downtown area. Naples is home to Tiburon Golf Club, a world-class golf course. The average price of a plane ticket is $203 and the average price for a three-star hotel is $133.

#7 Fort Lauderdale

Fort Lauderdale is located on Florida’s southeastern coast. Not only is it known for its beaches, but for their big boating canals as well. The Strip, located alongside Oceanside Highway A is a must do. It is packed full of restaurants, bars, boutiques, and hotels. If The Strip isn’t for you, the Swimming Hall of Fame, Bonnet House Museum and Gardens, which dates from 1920, and Hugh Taylor Birch State Park are located here as well. In Fort Lauderdale, the 5-star hotels average $401 a night and flights are averaging $118.

Along with Sanibel Island, Captiva Island shares the distinction of being one of Florida's Shell Islands. Captiva is generally the spot to find the larger intact shells. You will be captivated by beautiful, alluring Captiva Islands, where once, it is said, pirates roamed, conquistadors explored, and Calusa Indians called home. The mystery and adventure is still here. Captiva Island has spectacular white sand beaches scatteered with pastel colored seashells and breathtaking sunrises and sunsets. There are superb accommodations, restaurants, and shopping along with golfing, tennis, fishing, boating, and children activities.

Daytona Beach is famous for its Nascar race, the Daytona 500. However, its beautiful shoreline is mostly known for driving on the beach. Very few beaches allow this which attracts car fanatics from across the country to attend their annual car shows. Three star hotels average $98 per night. Flights average $329.

Located near Cape Canaveral, Cocoa Beach is where you can find the Kennedy Space Center. This beach is credited for having some of the best surfing spots on the Atlantic Ocean, and the famous Ron Jon Surf Shop is based here. Three-star hotels average from $127 and flights average $318.

South Beach is known for its celebrity night clubs and parties. Located in Miami-Dade county, the celebrities flock here for its pretty beaches,luxury hotels, and wild nightlife. Chain stores and celebrity-chef eateries line the streets. This is the most "fun" beach on our list. Three star hotels average $205 and airfare will cost around $415.
