Soccer is one of the biggest and most popular global sports. With thousands of soccer clubs worldwide, this list looks to answer one question: Who are the top 11 soccer clubs in the world? To clarify, this list does not include national teams. This list only consists of club teams from around the world. Will your favorite team be on this list? Taking into consideration various competitions and leagues from around the world, here is the definitive list of the 11 best clubs that you should keep an eye on for the season ahead.

#1 PSG

Currently first in French Ligue 1, this team is more than good. They are dangerous. Recently beating powerhouse Bayern Munich 3-0 in Champions League play, their deadly front three strike force is hard to match anywhere in the world. As of right now, this team looks like they will win both France and Europe with ease. Until they show any signs of weakness, or at least lose a game, they will continue to be number one.

#2 Barcelona

Sitting at the top of La Liga again, Barcelona are back to their form of past years. Not only are they unbeaten in La Liga and Champions League play, they took down Juventus in Champions League as if they were nothing. But most importantly of all, Lionel Messi is playing better than anyone on the planet right now, which means bad news for any opponent in his path.

#3 Manchester City

Sitting at the top of the Premier League, Manchester City has become a dominant club in recent weeks. With a goal differential of 20 in their first 7 league matches, alongside their perfection in Europe, Manchester City is having a fast start similar to last year's team. Pep's new key signings in the offseason have surely made the difference, but with the recent injury of Sergio Aguero and still some questions at the back, they remain only in the three position.

#4 Manchester United

The other club in Manchester, Manchester United that is, is not far behind Manchester City in these rankings. United forward Romelu Lukaku is on a scoring tear, leading the team to a second place spot in the Premier League and perfect record in Europe. While they are high flying, one question remains: When they face the bigger clubs in Europe without Paul Pogba (out on injury), how will they do? This key question keeps the Red Devils at number four.

#5 Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur sit third in the Premier League table and remain perfect in European play, recently beating Borussia Dortmund 2-1. Hotspur forward Harry Kane leads the team in goals and brings a dangerous attack to a well constructed defensive team. While results are good as of now, Tottenham needs one or two more key signings to put them over the edge and finally do great things in European knockout play and truly contend for the Premier League title. That being said, their form right now cannot be ignored and is worthy of the number five spot.

#6 Borussia Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund sits atop the German Bundesliga and is still a dominant force in Europe despite recently losing to number five ranked Tottenham. A young counter-attacking team, Dortmund loves scoring goals. Despite the recent departure of Ousmane Dembele, Dortmund have still managed to keep the top Bundesliga spot away from Bayern Munich which says a lot about their current form. Yet while they are in great form, their suspect defense will cost them in future games and is the reason why they are in the number six spot.

#7 Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich yes are second in Bundesliga, did lose 3-0 to PSG in Champions League, and did recently fire their coach. But regardless, this team is loaded with World Cup winners and veterans to bring Bayern back to dominance. Despite numerous key injuries and recent loss to PSG, they still remain second in Bundesliga and a favorite to win the Champions League. How many teams can have that many things go wrong and still be viewed as a dominant force? Not many. This is why Bayern make the top 11, but are as of now are in the seven spot.

#8 Napoli

This is an interesting one. If someone told me that Napoli would be leading Juventus in the Serie A through seven games I would be impressed but also never think that in the end they will actually beat Juventus in the title race. They have started out to a fast start domestically and in Europe, so they deserve credit in this poll. But I can only go as far as the eight spot due to the fact of inexperience and likelihood that despite their form right now, given another seven games, I don't see this run of wins lasting.

#9 Juventus

The Serie A champions of 2017 and Champions League runner-ups of 2017, Juventus deserve a lot of respect. Returning many key players from last year's squad they remain dominant in Europe. Yet the departure of a few key players such as Bonnuci and Dani Alves coupled with a recent loss to Barcelona 3-0 signify that they are not as dominant as they were in previous years as of now. For that reason they belong in the number nine position.

#10 Real Madrid

What! Number 10! Yes everyone calm down I realize that Real Madrid are the two time defending champions in Europe and have a guy named Cristiano Ronaldo on their team. But people, they aren't in the top four in La Liga right now. While they are still dominant in Europe, the teams above them are all, if not top two, top four in their respective leagues. While I recognize Real Madrid's talent level, they haven't shown all of it just quite yet, but still need to be in the top 11 soccer clubs in the world list.

#11 Chelsea

Finally, Chelsea. The defending champions of the Premier League, Chelsea are sitting fourth in the Premier League as of today. With recent loss to Manchester City coupled with the injury of new striker Alvaro Morata, things are looking not as great as they were a year ago at Stanford Bridge. While they remain a dominant force both domestically and in Europe, their injury at striker and recent forms of the teams above Chelsea in this list, keep Chelsea out of the top 10 but still in the top 11 for clubs in the world.
